About our starter labels
Don't ruin your starter labels each time you wash your jar! These labels can be removed and reapplied each time and will continue to look great for months.
These labels can be displayed on glass, metal, plastic, or any other non-porous surface. They are printed on transparent and repositionable vinyl that clings on the surface without using an adhesive. You can easily apply, remove, and update the temporary clear cling on your glass and plastic starter jars.
The secret to this is in the vinyl material of the cling which acts like a mini-suction cup when firmly pressed to the surface. To adhere it to your jar, remove the white backing and press firmly into place. Your customized cling will then stick to the surface, free of any bubbles or creases.
When you want to reposition the cling, simply peel it away from the surface and stick again - just like magic! If you want to store the cling in between use, just remove it from the container and re-apply the white protective backing that came with the cling label. And if you ever have issues reapplying, just spray the back with a little soapy water and then reapply.

Why name a sourdough starter?
Your starter is a unique colony of yeast and bacteria. It's alive and needs regular feeding - just like you! Many sourdough bakers give their sourdough starter a name to differentiate it from other starters. It also brings an element of fun to what can be a tedious and long process.

MY STORY
How did I come up with this idea to create custom Sourdough Starter Labels?
I have been baking for over 40 years now. But my passion for sourdough really ignited in 2023 when I created my own hybrid starter that was strong and would double and triple in a matter of hours. I gave it away to so many people here in the San Diego County area and they loved it just as much as I did.
I belong to several different Sourdough Facebook Groups and discovered how many folks love their starters, and that many even had more than one strain. This led me down a rabbit hole and I ended up getting two different hydrated starters from the 1800's. Both are wonderful but now I had an issue on how to keep track of which jar is which starter!
This led me to looking at different ways to label my jars. Unfortunately, none of the labels I could make myself would last through multiple jar washings. So I decided that I would make some window static cling stickers I could peel on and off every time I need to wash my jar. Unfortunately, unless I spent hundreds or thousands of dollars, I wouldn't be able to print them at home since it takes special vinyl cling material and special dyes to make them. I found an online seller but they were just so expensive to buy just one. That's where my business started. As a graphic designer, I am able to create cute labels, combine them on one larger sheet and have them printed by a professional company. And since I'm a small home business, my prices can be reasonable.
